Course Content:
- Locates and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
- Implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient completion of vehicle loading crane operation including:
- Planning and preparing for vehicle loading crane operations
- Performing daily and shift vehicle inspections and fault finding checks
- Identifying and establishing no-go zones in the vicinity of vehicle loading cranes
- Selecting and using relevant tools and equipment
- Works effectively with others to undertake and complete the operation of a vehicle loading crane that meets all of the required outcomes including:
- Using a range of communication techniques and equipment to convey information to others
- Complying with written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures
- Demonstrates completion of operating a vehicle loading crane that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:
- Performing pre-start, start-up, park-up, shutdown and vehicle positioning procedures
- Lifting and positioning loads or personnel using crane controls and function
- Directing crane operations using load moving signals
- Monitoring load and crane hook movements and locations
- Disposing of environmentally sensitive fluids and materials
- No-go areas in the vicinity of vehicle loading cranes
- Never work under crane booms
- Crane hook location and movement
- Relevant standards related to loading cranes and lifting
- Site and equipment safety requirements
- Vehicle equipment characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations associated with loading cranes
